Frequently Asked Questions

We know that entering a new school may be nerve-racking and confusing at times, so let us answer all of your questions about what your child will experience at AMSA and how it runs! Please fill out the form below if you have a question or contact us at amsacspto@gmail.com.

At AMSA, you are required to wear the following during class time: an approved polo-shirt and either khakis (on non-gym days) or dark blue sweatpants (on gym days).  No open- toe shoes or crocs are allowed, even on dress down days.

  • This does not apply to: spirit weeks (themes alternate), spirit days (on half days, allowed to wear approved spirit wear top), or dress down days (last Friday of every month, most clothing is allowed but check AMSA guidelines for more info).
  • Uniform tops can be purchased on Land's End and bottoms can be bought almost anywhere, while most everything can be found at our few uniform sales throughout the year.
  • Outerwear (sweaters, cardigans, etc.) must either have the AMSA logo on it or be removed during class time.
  • Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade should have a string bag to carry their supplies from class to class as backpacks are not permitted in the hallways due to limited space. Highschool students are allowed to carry their backpacks from class to class.

Our lunch schedule consists of 3 lunch blocks of about 25 minutes each. For those in the lower school, lunch block is assigned per grade (6th is first, 7th is second, 8th is third). Starting in 9th grade,  your lunch block changes based on what class you have fifth period, and can be seen posted by the main office.

AMSA does not have your traditional gym setup, but we instead have it at ForeKicks right next door.  During gym days, you will meet with your class either in front of the lower school caf or wood chip area, and walk there together. When it is nice outside, your teacher may choose to take you to the outdoor fields right next to the ForeKicks building.

AMSA operates on an 8 day rotating schedule. Each day includes 8 periods which last 45 minutes each, with 4 minutes in between classes. 1.5 credit classes alternate between 1 period and 2 periods, 1 credit classes are every day, and 0.5 credit are every other day.

If you ever make it to first period past 7:55 am or any other class past the final bell, you should go to the main office, ask for a late pass, and go to your next class. Depending on teacher, once you pass a certain amount of tardies, you will be given an after school or lunch detention, which you are required to go to.

If you ever need to make up missing work, tests, or just need some extra help from a teacher, ask them if they are available the block that you have study hall. Bring this pass to your study hall teacher to sign off on, and go to your teacher. If they are not available, teachers are more than happy to stay after to answer any questions or help with work, and you could always email them. This is a great way to not fall behind when absent and should definitely be utilized when necessary!
